Sir: Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor antidepressantsare first-line pharmacologic treatments of posttraumatic stressdisorder (PTSD).1,2 Robust effects have been seen in previouslarge studies of sertraline in civilian populations.3,4 The recent(May 2007) study by Friedman and colleagues5 failed to findevidence of efficacy of sertraline in a veteran population, despitea comprehensive analysis of potential moderator variables.’ ‹
