Article Abstract

From our regular book review column.

A book can be a classic if, in addition to vital current information, it generates questions from the intellectually curious and stimulates healthy debates in the process. This entirely revised edition of The Harvard Guide to Psychiatry, 4 years in the making and 11 years after its preceding version, certainly fits the bill. Fifty-six distinguished contributors shape the content of a volume in 6 original sections. The main virtues of the preceding editions are enhanced, and the new, added features provide sharper distinctiveness, deeper science, and subtler art to the work.
