Under the current pressures of managed health care, the costeffectiveness of treatments is a significant consideration for the practicing psychiatrist. Interpersonal Psychotherapy for Dysthymic Disorder provides a solution for treating some chronically depressed patients: time-limited psychotherapy based on traditional interpersonal therapy for depression,1 but tailored to the treatment of dysthymia.
