P’ ‹’ ‹ersistent mental illnesses, notably schizophrenia andbipolar disorder, are often associated with substantial psychosocial impairment and decreased quality of life. Mostindividuals with these conditions are also differentially affectedby chronic medical disorders that are associated with a moresevere mental illness presentation, course, and outcome. Moreover,cardiometabolic disorders are the most frequent cause ofpremature mortality in these populations.’ ‹
