Are we making progress in our search for the causes ofschizophrenia? If so, are we doing so by starting with genes andmolecules (bottom-up approach) or with brain-based models ofabnormal mental states (top-down approach)?

These are the questions that Peter Williamson, the TannaSchulich Chair in Neuroscience and Mental Health at the Universityof Western Ontario, pursues in his book Mind, Brain,and Schizophrenia.
