Sir: While alcohol dependence is highly prevalent, pharmacotherapyoptions for its management remain relatively limited1or underutilized.2 Mirtazapine is indicated for the symptomatictreatment of depression. We report a case in which mirtazapineaided the treatment of a depressed alcoholic man, speculatingthat its 5-HT3 antagonism may have contributed to its beneficialeffect on his alcoholism.’ ‹
