Article Abstract

Because this piece does not have an abstract, we have provided for your benefit the first 3 sentences of the full text.

Sir: Clozapine has been shown to be superior to typical antipsychotics in treatment-refractory schizophrenic patients. However, patients are sometimes unable to tolerate full therapeutic doses of clozapine because of significant adverse central nervous system and gastrointestinal effects at high doses. Aripiprazole is a new antipsychotic with a novel mechanism of action.
