Sir: The recent (September 2004) study by Misri et al.1evaluating the use of paroxetine and cognitive-behavioraltherapy (CBT) to treat postpartum depression and anxiety istimely and informative; however, I have several concerns. The results of the study are not generalizable to the majorityof women with postpartum depression and anxiety. At best, thesample is representative only of the very small subset of womenwith severe comorbid anxiety and depression who are diagnosedby their primary care physician and referred for specialtycare.’ ‹
