Sir: We thank Dr. Quitkin and colleagues from ColumbiaUniversity for their comments regarding our article.¹ As wepoint out in the article, the investigators from Columbia Universitywere the pioneers in advancing our understanding of thetiming of the antidepressant response. The findings from ourmeta-analysis, however, largely contradict their delayed antidepressantresponse theory, and Dr. Quitkin and colleagues rejectour findings after arguing that the meta-analysis we conductedwas "inappropriate."’ ‹’ ‹
