Article Abstract

Sir: Dr. Sheeley’s logic is consistent with my comment that "capitation should bring an end to reviewers as we have known them." But it is unfortunate that he imagines the new reviewer to be the litigious patient and chooses to consider the "unintended consequences" rather than the intended ones! My intention is for physicians to perform our own utilization review rather than remain "victim" to external intrusions that we have attracted out of our failure to monitor our practices in the first place.
