Article Abstract

Sir: In a recent article, Praschak-Rieder et al. described 3 cases of suicide in patients with seasonal affective disorder (SAD) who were treated with bright light therapy. The authors emphasized the importance of collecting data on suicide and SAD. Seasonal affective disorder is a syndrome characterized by the recurrence of depressive episodes, which in most cases begin in fall or winter and remit in the following spring or summer.
