Article Abstract

Many patients with major depressive disorder only partially respond to initial antidepressant treatment. Residual depressive symptoms need to be addressed so that patients can achieve full remission and return to presymptomatic levels of functioning. This case vignette presents Ms M, a 26-year-old woman who continues to experience depression, fatigue, and sleepi’ ‹ness after adequate antidepressant therapy, and discusses pharmacologic strategies to relieve residual symptoms.
