Letter to the Editor

Sir: Kleptomania is characterized by the recurrent failure to resist impulses to steal objects that are not needed for personal use or for their monetary value. Further, patients experience a sense of tension immediately before the theft and a sense of pleasure or relief upon committing the theft.1 This disorder is listed in DSM-IV under impulse-control disorders not elsewhere classified.
