Weight Gain, Sexual Dysfunction, and Bupropion

Sir: In their recent (May 2005) article, Zimmerman et al.1reported that bupropion is not associated with weight gainor sexual dysfunction. I disagree with their assertion for thefollowing reasons.

Concerning weight gain, the package insert for bupropionextended-release (XL)2 states that 9% of patients treated withthe immediate-release (IR) form of bupropion gained weight,a rate higher than that found with placebo.
