Sir: Depression, with a prevalence rate from 4.8% to 9.2%,is a common illness treated by family physicians.1 Over the last20 years, a number of antidepressants have become availablefor physicians to treat patients with depression. Approximately50% to 60% of patients will respond to treatment2; however,only about half of those patients responding to treatment willachieve remission.3
