Sir: Gabapentin is a newer anticonvulsant approved for useas an adjunct agent in the treatment of partial seizures with orwithout secondary generalization.¹ Recent publications indicatethat gabapentin has been useful in a wide array of psychiatricconditions including anxiety disorders,² alcohol withdrawal,³ bipolardisorder,⁴ behavioral disorders,^5,6 and even antidepressantinducedbruxism.⁷ Although its exact mechanism of action isnot known,1 it is structurally related to g-aminobutyric acid(GABA), but does not interact with GABA receptors.⁸
