Sir: Methylphenidate is a short-acting psychostimulant thatis structurally and pharmacologically similar to dextroamphetamineand is primarily used in the treatment of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).1,2 Its use has also been exploredfor the treatment of apathy and for augmentation ofeffects of antidepressants.3 It acts as a dopaminergic and noradrenergicreuptake inhibitor.
